In a distribution network complex power (eg CATV), a power supply mode switching at a node, automatically recovers from the conditions of low input voltage. When the input voltage to a power supply switching d decreases to a critical level, the output voltage is no longer regulated longer and input current increases, and then the network becomes unstable. The network can enter a condition of quasi stable high current in which the output voltage remains unstable. In a specific embodiment, a circuit automatic closing feels unstable condition (or a voltage or current indicating the potential for instability) and closes the power supply in an off state. After a predetermined pause (which may depend on the input voltage), the power supply restarts automatically. Upon restart, if the power supply is still unstable or potentially unstable, then the circuit switches off the power supply again and so on. In another specific embodiment, the controller regulates the output voltage of the power supply when the input voltage is sufficient, but when the input voltage decreases then the driver power supply operates in a current mode approximately constant for distribution network maintain stability.
