The use of a compound of formula (See formula) wherein R2 and R3 are each, independently of each other, phenylalkyl of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, unsubstituted or substituted with alkyl of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, alkenyl of 2 at 6 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl of 3 to 12 carbon atoms, alkoxy of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, cycloalkoxy of 3 to 12 carbon atoms, halogen, oxo, carboxyl, carboxyalkyl ester of 1 to 7 carbon atoms, ester carboxy-cycloalkyl of 3 to 3 to 12 carbon atoms, cyano, trifluoromethyl, pentafluoroethyl, amino, N, N-mono- or di-alkylamino of 1 to 20 carbon atoms or with nitro, or wherein R2 and R3 are alkyl from 1 to 5 carbon atoms or cycloalkyl from 4 to 12 carbon atoms; or wherein R2 and R3 are alkenyl of 2 to 6 carbon atoms, for the antimicrobial treatment of inanimate surfaces.
