A device and process for the thermal disinfection ofbiological waste wherein the waste is placed in a sack of polymericmaterial and compacted while the gases which are released arefiltered and subsequently sealing the chamber and applying heat tothe compacted waste, the process being characterized by releasingthe pressure on the biological waste after compacting andmonitoring the pressure during the step of applying heat thereto. Thedevice operates such that the compacted waste may beautomatically ejected from the compacting chamber.
