An agitation element adapted for use with other agitation elementson the rollers of a roller screen, having a substantially planar andtriangularbody with a central opening therethrough for mounting the agitation elementonto the roller, the opening being adapted such that the body of the agitationelement lies generally perpendicularly with respect to the axis of rotation oftheroller when the agitation element is mounted on the roller for operation.Anotheragitation element has an edge defining a closed perimeter with substantiallylinear sides, each side being angled with respect to each adjacent side bylessthan ninety degrees. In particular embodiments, the angle can be as low asapproximately sixty degrees. Still another agitation element incorporates abody having an edge defining a closed polygon with adjacent sides thatintersect each other at a peak and wherein a maximum distance, measuredfrom the geometric center of the polygon to at least one of the peaks isapproximately 1.5-2.25 times greater than a minimum distance, measured fromthe geometric center of the polygon to the midpoint of one of the sides. Inparticular embodiments, the ratio can be 1.5-1.75, and in one particularembodiment, the ratio is approximately 1.6.
