The invention describes a method for investigating theglucose metabolism of a human being for disease-relevantand/or disease-related particularities, comprising thefollowing steps: measuring the glucose concentrationg(t1) to g(tn) of a body fluid, in particular blood, attime points t1 to tn that are distributed over a periodof at least four hours, preferably at least six hours,determining data points in phase space coordinates fromthe glucose concentration measuring values g(t1) tog(tn), processing the data points to highlight disease-relevant and/or disease-related particularities of theglucose metabolism of the investigated human being. Theprocessing of the data points can be implemented byplotting them in a phase space representation or bydetermining from the data points a disturbance parameterthat is correlated to the severity of a disturbance ofglucose metabolism.
