A method for realizing communication of a dual mode terminal, includes: the MSC sends a call inform message carrying the calling number to the HRPD acce ss function entity through the IWS after receiving a page for the dual mode terminal locating in the HRPD network; then the HRPD access function entity sends the call inform message carrying the calling number to the dual mode terminal; the dual mode terminal performs the subsequent communication according to the received calling number. The invention reduces the number o f related messages by the MSC sending a call inform message carrying the calli ng number to the HRPD access function entity through the IWS after the MSC receiving a page for the dual mode terminal locating in the HRPD network, th us reduces the processing complexity of the message and the processing time of the message; while at the same time, it could reduce the processing complexi ty and the processing time of the message further by cutting the call inform messages to one or combining two call inform messages into one MAC packet fo r sending from the HRPD access function entity to the dual mode terminal./SDO AB
