Method for avoiding corrosion damage in combustion of fuel- or diesel oil (where sulfur content was reduced) or in low sulfur fuel oil, comprises adding phosphorus-containing additive to fuel-/diesel oil or heating oil before the combustion. An independent claim is also included for an additive for fuel oil to avoid the corrosion damage in the combustion of fuel- or engine oil (where sulfur content was reduced) or in the combustion of low-sulfur fuel oil, comprising a phosphorus-containing compound as active agent.
