The invention relates to a method and a system for determining the authenticity of the individually typical features of test objects, especially during identification of individuals using the individually typical features of the fingertips. Person identification is problematic in that a copy of the individually typical features, such as for example a silicone copy of a fingerprint, may be judged to be correct or matching during feature evaluation, thereby causing an incorrect positive identification and facilitating improper use of a security system. The invention addresses this problem by providing a method which is characterized in that interdependent - mutually dependent - and scalar - mutually independent - physical and/or physiological parameters of the test object (100) and/or the contact surface (102) are detected. At least one correlation of the interdependent parameters and/or the interdependent and scalar parameters combined to attributes are determined. At least one correlation of these interdependent parameters and/or a determined attribute is evaluated, and the data thereby obtained are used especially for determining the authenticity, for increasing recognition reliability or protection against forgery and for biometric recognition.
