The aim of the invention is to minimize changes in the dimensions and shape of parts during high-pressure gas quenching thereof without reducing the hardness of the material of the parts. Said aim is achieved by decreasing the gradients in the part during an interruption (curve segment 18) of the continuous quenching process at a temperature lying below the martensite start point (12), resulting in significantly less warping of the parts than in temperature curve (17).
