AN SIP SERVER, A CONGESTION CONTROL METHOD THEREOF AND A MULTIMEDIA BROADBAND NETWORK USING SIP

A congestion control method of SIP server comprises the steps that A. SIP server detects the current traffic handled by itself; B. SIP server returns a congestion response message for each request message received by itself when it determines that the congestion occurs according to the current traffic handled by itself. There is a SIP server and a multimedia broadband network using SIP according to the present invention. A congestion control mechanism is introduced to the SIP server, that’s to say, a congestion response message is returned for the received request message when the congestion occurs to enable the SIP server to control the congestion. Within the present invention the SIP request side implements the retransmission of the request message according to the congestion response message, by which the success ratio of the SIP service is increased, the competition ability of the SIP service is enhanced, and the development of the SIP network is improved.
