The invention relates to an air spring comprising a piston (4) which slides telescopically inside a closed cylinder, thereby defining two air chambers in said cylinder. The aforementioned cylinder comprises a fixed part (2) and a sliding part which slides inside the fixed part (3). The piston (4), which is connected to the fixed part (2), slides telescopically inside the sliding part (3) such as to define the two main chambers (5) and the cylinder. In addition, the inner circumference of the sliding part (3) is equipped with a sealing joint (7) which co-operates with the outer surface (8) of a central cylindrical body forming the axis of the piston (4), such as to divide the main chamber of the cylinder into two parts (6' and 6 ). The invention also relates to one such air spring which is associated with a hydraulic shock absorber, in which the central cylindrical body (8) comprises the cylinder (11) of a hydraulic shock absorber, while an axis (12) which is connected to the sliding part (3) of the air cylinder (1) acts on said hydraulic shock absorber.
