A kind of method and apparatus, for adaptively enhancing the offer of image color. The equipment includes saturation degree component lead-out unit, a saturation enhancement function determining variable calculator, a saturation degree enhancement unit, a saturation degree component synthesis unit. Saturation degree component lead-out unit exports saturation degree component from input picture. The saturation enhancement function determining variable calculator determines that saturation enhancement function is based on a reference value for enhancing the saturation degree of input picture. Saturation degree enhancement unit uses saturation enhancement function. The synthesis of saturation degree component synthesis unit changes saturation degree component and other components, generates output image according to synthesized component.
