Disclosed is a device (1) for withdrawing a bar (3) that has been produced in a bar extruder or pipe extruder (2). Said device (1) comprises at least one driven first carriage (4) that is movable in a linear direction along the direction of withdrawal (L) of the bar (3) and exerts a pulling force on said bar (3). A second carriage (5) which is movable in the direction of withdrawal (l) relative to the first carriage (4) is arranged on the first carriage (4). The bar (3) that is to be withdrawn is attached to the second carriage (5).
