An intaglio coded pattern may be engraved on a form cylinder in a rotary printing machine. The pattern may be derived from a data file in a computer. SureSign (RTM) or digital watermarks may be generated with data unreadable by the naked eye. The coded patterns may be printed in cyan, magenta, yellow and black, with different line spacings and angles to the horizontal.
