A peak power reducing device enables reduction of the amplitude error after clipping and significant simplification of computation. In the device, a difference computing section (203) computes the difference between the power determined by squaring the amplitude of the modulated signal outputted from a modulating section (101) and a predetermined threshold, an edge detecting section (204) sequentially monitors the sign of the difference between the temporally consecutive two samples and detects the change point of the sign, an edge signal setting section (206) acquires a peak immediately preceding sample and a peak immediately following sample according to the change point of the sign and counts the samples of the peak signal, an interpolation signal generating section (207) generates interpolation signals each of which is interpolated between two samples, i.e., the peak immediately preceding sample and the peak immediately following sample and the number of which is equal to that to the samples of the peak signals, and a selecting section (210) selects an interpolation signal at the timing at which the peak signal is inputted.
