The escalator (1) has handrail entryway (5) provided with finger contact protection cover (6). Corrugated bristles are arranged in the cover, such that a gap is created between the handrail and the bristles. The gap is set in the range of 2.0-6.5 mm. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) handrail entryway; and (2) gap reduction method.
