Crystals of chondroitin AC lyase originated from an Arthrobacter bacterium, which belong to the monoclinic system space group P2₁ substantially with unit cell dimensions of a = 57.6 Å, b = 85.5 Å, c = 80.5 Å, β = 106.9° and contain one molecule in the asymmetric unit, and a protein having an activity of chondroitin AC lyase and an amino acid sequence Asn-Trp-Trp-(Xaa)₇-Arg-(Xaa)_34-Gln-(Xaa)₄-Arg- (Xaa)₈-Asn- (Xaa)₄₉-His- (Xaa)₈-Tyr- (Xaa)_53-Arg- (Xaa)₃-Arg- (Xaa)₂- (Asn or Asp) - (Xaa)₁₀₆-Asn- (Xaa)₅₄-Trp (Xaa represents an arbitrary amino acid residue, and the numerals represent numbers of residues).
