The invention relates to a method for the production of a piezoelectric ceramic material, based on PZT, which sinters at a low temperature . The ions which are to be used as initial compounds are used as powdery oxide and/or powdery carbonates, are mixed together and are then calcinated to form the piezoelectric ceramic material. The lithium mixture in ionic form is added in amounts ranging from 0.01 0.1 wt. % in relation to the weight of the PZT ceramic after calcination of the initial compounds.
