An apparatus and method for analyzing an impurity in a liquid. The apparatus comprises a cell (204) coupled to a light source (102) and a detector (114). The cell (204) includes a first mirror (108) at a first end of the cell to receive and pass s the light into the cell along a longitudinal axis of the cell, and a second mirror (110) at a second end of the cell to at least partially reflect the light. A liquid supply device (210) projects a stream (208) of the liquid between the first mirror (108) and the second mirror (110) and across the longitudinal axis of the cell (204). The detector (114) is coupled to the second end of the cell and determines a decay rate of the light within the cell based on the light passing through the liquid.
