The present invention relates to a prefabricated sound-proofing module, the resulting noise-abatement wall, and a method for making same. Said module, wall and method are simple, inexpensive, and quick and easy to implement so that prolonged roadwork can be avoided and a noise-abatement wall with good acoustic properties in terms of noise absorption can be achieved. Said noise-abatement wall (10c) consists of a plurality of rows of adjacent self-supporting prefabricated sound-proofing modules (1a) placed on top of one another. Each prefabricated sound-proofing module (1a) comprises a reinforcement (3a) in the form of a body provided with a sound-proofing portion (2a) made of a noise-absorbing material, and a ballast portion (23a) filled with ballast materials. The sound-proofing portion (2a) consists, e.g., of adjacent sound-proofing elements arranged in rows stacked in front of a continuous wall constituting a sound-proofing barrier (22a). The prefabricated sound-proofing modules (1a) in the last row of the noise-abatement wall (10c) are covered by a cap (11) also made of a noise-absorbing sound-proofing material. The present invention is useful in the field of noise abatement walls for roadways, railways, etc.
