Cutting method and machine capable of cutting the rib part of a work with high efficiency and high precision, and a rib electrode for electric discharge machining. A cutting tool (11) having cutting blades (23a, 23b) extending along two lines which are parallel with each other or spread open in the direction of forward end in the same plane is prepared. The cutting tool (11) is arranged with respect to the work W such that the two cutting blades (23a, 23b) engage with the opposite side faces at the rib part R of the work W. The cutting tool (11) is then moved relatively to the work W along a specified cutting path so that the opposite side faces at the rib part R of the work W can be cut simultaneously.
