METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AUTO-CONFIGURING NETWORK ADDRESS

An identifier (ID) of a subnet is obtained from a packet transmitted from a router on the subnet. An address not used by the nodes on the subnet is configured as the address of a node among the addresses including the obtained subnet ID. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) apparatus for configuring address of node on subnet; and (2) computer readable medium storing instructions controlling processor to perform the method of configuring address of multiple nodes on subnet.
