PURPOSE: A high level data link control(HDLC) communication device in a base station of a mobile communication system and a method therefor are provided so that transmission/reception paths among nodes can be shared by a main bus, and a circuit structure can be simplified, maintaining a transmission/reception speed. CONSTITUTION: An HDLC communication device in a base station of a mobile communication system includes the following units. A trunk(100) performs an interface operation between the base station and a control station. A reception error packet delete unit(200) judges reception suitability of a packet, removes the packet when it is not suitable, and outputs the packet to a main bus when it is suitable. A plurality of channel cards(300) are connected to the main bus, for aligning the inputted packets to channels, and outputting them to the main bus. A transmission error packet delete unit(500) judges transmission suitability of the packet, removes the packet when it is not suitable, and outputs the packet to the trunk when it is suitable. A control card(400) controls an order of the packets from the channel cards(300), and initializes and monitors the transmission and reception error packet delete units(200)(500). An arbitration circuit unit(800) supplies an arbitration clock and an arbitration synchronous clock.
