Dual-band omnidirectional antennas for wireless LAN

PURPOSE: A dual band omnidirectional antenna is provided to allow the antenna to efficiently operate in different frequency bands, and reduce costs and size of the antenna. CONSTITUTION: A dual band omnidirectional antenna comprises a planar dielectric substrate(18) having two parallel surfaces; a first conductive pattern disposed on one of the surfaces, wherein the first conductive pattern includes a first feeder line disposed on the vertical center line of the substrate, and a plurality of radiating elements each of which has an end connected to the first feeder line, wherein the radiating elements are designed in such a manner that part of the radiating elements operates in a high frequency band and other part of the radiating elements operates in a low frequency band; and a second conductive pattern disposed on the other of the surfaces, wherein the second conductive pattern includes a second feeder line(38) disposed on the vertical center line of the substrate, and a plurality of radiating elements(40a,40b,42a,42b) each of which is connected to the second feeder line and arranged symmetrically with the radiating elements of the first conductive pattern.
