The present invention relates to a deflection yoke for a color cathode ray tube. The deflection yoke for the color cathode ray tube of the present invention includes a panel having a phosphor screen formed on its inner surface, a funnel coupled to the panel, an electron gun mounted on the funnel to emit an electron beam, and a vertical and horizontal deflection coil for deflecting the electron beam emitted from the electron gun. In the color cathode ray tube including the formed deflection yoke and a shadow mask for color-selecting the electron beam emitted from the electron gun, the upper and lower ends of the opening of the deflection yoke are 3/4 to 4/4 of the diameter of the opening of the horizontal deflection coil.
