PURPOSE: A bridge management method applying an STA(Spanning Tree Algorithm) to an Ethernet PON(Passive Optical Network) which embodies a point-to-point emulation is provided to prevent a loop by managing an ONU(Optical Distribution Network) for providing a weight value with two times or more of a recommended path cost according to a link speed and performing a spanning tree process according to the STA. CONSTITUTION: A BPDU(Bridge Protocol Data Unit) packet having a root ID, a path cost and a transmission bridge ID is broadcasted between bridges according to an STA, and is received(300). A weight value with at least two times or more of a hop count is provided to the path cost of the received BPDU packet according to a link speed, and a spanning tree process is performed according to the STA(302).
