A light-diffusing liquid-crystal film produced by fixing the cholesteric or chiral smectic C-orientation whose helical axis is not uniformly parallel with the direction of the film thickness, and a liquid-crystal film produced by fixing the cholesteric or chiral smectic C-orientation whose helical axis is not uniformly parallel with the direction of the film thickness and whose helical pitches are not uniformly regular in the direction of the film thickness.
