An optical fiber, and an optical transmission line and an optical communication system adopting the same are provided to increase an SBS(Stimulated Brillouin Scattering) threshold value by changing the refractive index of a core region in the radius direction. A single mode optical fiber has a core region with a radius(rcore) about an optical axis, and a cladding region enclosing the core region. The core region has a refractive index profile, where a refractive index contrast Delta1 at the optical axis is different from a refractive index contrast Delta2 at the radius. An MFD(Mode Field Diameter) at a wavelength of 1310nm is 8.6 to 9.5mum. A zero dispersion wavelength is 1300 to 1324nm. A dispersion value at a wavelength of 1550nm is less than 18ps/nm-km. A bending loss at a wavelength of 1550nm is less than 0.1dB.
