PURPOSE: An expansion valve and a method for forming a passage of the expansion valve are provided to reduce limitation of an assembling space by making an inlet be at right angle to an outlet, to improve productivity by reducing the cost and the length of the assembling process, and to reduce noise. CONSTITUTION: An expansion valve comprises a body(110), a head part(120), and an opening and shutting unit(140). The body has at least one passage(111,114) in which the angle of a central line(a) of inlets(112,115) and a central line(b) of outlets(113,116) satisfies a formula. In the formula, the angle is more than zero degree and is less than 180 degrees. A guide part guiding flow of a fluid is formed to a crossing point of the inlet and the outlet. The head part is installed to the body. The head part reciprocates a rod(130) in the axial direction by the expanding and shrinking actions according to a temperature change of an actuating fluid moving in the passage. The actuating fluid is discharged from an outlet of an evaporator. The opening and shutting unit adjusts a flow moving in the passage through interlock with the movement of the rod.
