Provided are a dielectric ceramic composition for microwaves and millimeter waves which can be sintered at a wider range of temperature and has a high Q*f value, and its preparation method. The dielectric ceramic composition comprises cordierite comprising MgO, Al2O3 and SiO2 in a ratio of 2:2:5 by mol, wherein some of Al2O3 or SiO2 is substituted with any one selected from the group consisting of ZnO, TiO2 and GeO2 by 0.1 mol. The method comprises the steps of mixing a main component comprising MgO, Al2O3 and SiO2 and an accessory component comprising any one selected from the group consisting of ZnO, TiO2 and GeO2; calcining the mixture at a high temperature to prepare a cordierite crystal; and sintering the obtained powder at a temperature of 1,400-1,445 deg.C.
