The system measures the temperature of a domestic appliance and has a component (2) to generate an optical signal and a receiver (3) at a sensor. The optical signal transmitter measures the temperature related output signal (UA,UA') according to a given input signal (IE,IE'). The output signal (UA,UA') is evaluated to control the heater temperature in the appliance.
