The apparatus (1; 22; 30) for the production of crimped spunbond fibers (5) or crimped melt-blown fleece filaments (31) of molten thermoplastic material, the device (1; 22; 30) a plurality of nozzles for the exit of the thermoplastic material, a the nozzles downstream stretching arrangement of the spunbond fibers (5) or of the non-woven filaments (31) and a tray (12) for the non-woven filaments (31) or spunbond fibers (5), characterized in that, in front of the tray (12) the nozzles and the stretching arrangement, a mechanically acting compression device (7) for the at least partially stretched spunbond fibers (5) or non-woven filaments (31) is arranged, with impact surfaces (18) and a the impact surfaces downstream widening (25), which, in a draw tube (10), and this followed by a diffuser (21) is arranged, as a result of which a change in the geometry of the spunbond fibers (5) or non-woven filaments (31) can be generated.
