The catcher device (4) has a vertical securing rail (2) and brake actuating member (5). A securing device (6) which interacts with the rail or cable is triggered through speed and/or acceleration in the event of accident to secured person to prevent downward movement of the catcher device even if the brake actuating member is not biased downwards. Independent claim describes securing device to connect with catcher device for worker on buildings which interacts with securing rail or cable and prevents downward movement.
