The method involves employing e.g. electrical induction, to the cylinder bearing surface of a cylinder bore according to presence of topographical distortions that occur during three dimensional profile shaping e.g. hot or cold shaping, on the bearing surface. A cylinder liner is applied to the bearing surface. - Independent claims are included for the following: - (A) a cylinder bore processing apparatus; - (B) and a cylinder crankcase.
