A calculating circuit forms a mathematical model of a three-phase generator (5). It receives inputs from sensors giving generator speed (n Gen), voltage (U Gen) and generator loading (A). The circuit calculates three outputs. These may be generator moment (M Gen), generator current (I Gen) and maximum generator current (Delta I Gen).
