The method involves measuring electric current (Ix) across a component (1) in a network (10). The voltage (Ux) across the component is first measured and then a null balance current is generated whose value is adjusted that voltage across the component is zero. The null-balance current is then measured which indicates the actual current flowing through the component. An independent claim is also included for the ammeter.
