The device has a phase adjuster for relative rotation of a cam shaft opposite to a crankshaft, where the adjuster is designed as an electromagnetic clutch (11). The clutch has a clutch spring arranged between an anchor and an electrical coil. A drive wheel (4) is arranged at the cam shaft. The anchor is axially movable on the cam shaft and is connected with the cam shaft. The spring presses the anchor towards the drive wheel.
