The print head of a needle matrix printer has a ring shaped yoke carrier (5) having a number of single yokes (4) having electromagnetic coils (6) on yoke arms (4a). Armature elements (3) operate radially on the ends of the print head needles (7) and react against damping elements. The yoke elements are set into carrier material coated with heat conducting material (9).
