Assembly to crush ice cubes, within a portable housing, has a direct current motor to drive the crushing shaft as part of a pulse generating circuit with the motor speed controlled by pulse width modulation
The assembly to crush ice cubes, and the like, has a housing which can be closed with a feed opening, a holding zone for the ice cubes and a delivery opening. A powered rotating shaft is within the housing with spikes acting against counter surfaces to break up the ice cubes. The shaft drive is a direct current (DC) motor (27). The motor is part of a circuit (26) to generate pulse signals, where one is at a frequency of 5 kHz and the second is overlaid at a lower frequency. The motor speed is controlled by a pulse width modulation (35,36), set by at least one potentiometer (28). The motor has a battery (32) as a power supply, which can be charged through a control (30) integrated into the circuit by connection to an alternating current (AC) mains (34) through a charger (33).
