A vibration damping system, e.g. for an impact hand power tool has a leaf spring (4) secured at each end by a pair of grips (2, 3) to permit relative movement between the grips without transmitting the impact shocks. The grips are provided with profiled cheeks (6) which limit the amount of bending of the spring near to the grips and thereby reduce the risk of damaging the leaf spring.
