The brake has a permanently actuated synchronous machine (3) including terminals that are connected with braking torque producing devices e.g. braking resistors (4), by a switch (2b). A condenser is connected in parallel to one of the braking torque producing devices. The braking torque producing devices are arranged in star connection. One of the barking torque producing devices is a potentiometer (6).
