The automatic watering system for flowerpots (3) comprises an outer pot (1) filled with water, into which the flowerpot fits. A capillary tube (8) or bundle of tubes connects the earth in the flowerpot with the water and is fitted with a valve. A silver plate (2) is attached to the inside of the outer pot and is immersed in the water. An annular lid (4) covers the gap between the outer pot and flowerpot.
