The method involves positioning a set of containers at a hollow space (10) of a sunk object (1) e.g. salvage vessel, and at the sides of a closed chamber. An opening with a reduced cross section is arranged at the container. An air tight casing is provided at the containers and the chamber surrounds the casing, where the chamber is filled with gas such as air that displace the water from the hollow space. An independent claim is also included for a device for lifting objects from large water depths.
