Preparation of poor monomer polyisocyanate (I) comprises distillative removal of monomer isocyanate from polymer polyisocyanate, reaction products of polyisocyanate with compounds with groups, that are reactive with isocyanate groups and/or modified polyisocyanate, where distillative removal distance takes place under the use of at least a falling film-short path evaporator. Independent claims are also included for a monomer poor polyisocyanate comprising: higher homology of diphenylmethane-diisocyanate; isocyanate groups and urethane group; or isocyanurate-, allophanate-, biuret-, uretdione-, uretonimine-, carbodiimide-groups.
