The control panel (2) has an input position dedicated to night-programmed operation, in contrast with the normal programming for daytime operation. Night-programmed operation is designed for freedom from audible noise, by the series of provisions which follow. The water solenoid valve has a position selected for reduced flow velocity and associated noise. The motor is operated at reduced speed and/or during shorter intervals. Imbalance for spinning is more tightly controlled; spin initiation is made smoother. A start delay for night operation, is made available for selection. A push button (6) invokes the night program.
