Treating industrial water contaminated with suspended material comprises pre-cleaning the industrial water in a sedimentation container (2) by removing a sedimentary coarse slurry, drying the coarse slurry in an air stream of a slurry dryer (9) to form a solid material and removing water vapor from the pre-cleaning industrial water in a process stream so that the suspended material is concentrated in an industrial water concentrate. An independent claim is also included for a device for carrying out the above process.
