A method for automatic, individual advice on nutrition and eating routines involves storing person-related nutritional data in an electronic, magnetic or optical nutrition data bank, determining the person-related nutritional food characteristics by preparing a number of nutritional characteristics in an electronic, magnetic, optical etc data bank for individual food-stuffs and/or kinds of foods, followed by identifying the food-stuffs on the basis of an identification device. The nutritional characteristics are assigned to the food-stuffs by an identification unit by comparison of the identified food-stuffs with the food-stuffs and/or types of food filed in the data bank. Processing of the nutritional data follows, with recommended data output. Independent claims are included for the following (A) An electronic hand-set and (B) A system for carrying out the method.
