In a process to fabricate a slip-ring and/or counter-pressure ring forming part of a slip-ring seal, a metal casting has a surface which subsequently acts as the interface support. The interface sacrificial material is a stellite or formed by NiCr+WC alloy and applied by hot isostatic press.
