The device has guide units (4), which are moved laterally to a centerline (5) of an installation plate (2). The guide units are inserted into a gap that is formed in a workpiece during sawing of the workpiece, such that a sabre saw (1) is laterally moved. The sabre saw follows a circular path (6) that is determined by a position of a saw blade (3) relative to the guide units. The device is fixed to the saber saw by screws.
