The method involves rolling a metallic wire (1) in a wire rolling device such that a defined roughness is embossed on an upper surface of the wire by a roller (2) of the rolling device such that the wire has a surface roughness between 1-5 micrometer. The wire is subjected to a hot-rolling process. The upper surface of the wire is moistened by a lubricant and the wire is subjected to a cold-rolling process. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a system for drawing a metallic wire including a wire rolling device (B) a wire with defined roughness (C) an application of the wire.
